Structure of superconducting wire
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent reaction between a wire material and a covering layer and to prevent a joining part from coming off by forming an intermediate covering layer and a covering layer made of a material of a similar composition to that of the wire material over the wire material of a superconducting composition of A-B-Cu-O family or A-B-Cu-O-X family. CONSTITUTION:Over a wire material 1 made of a superconductive material of either A-B-Cu-O family or A-B-Cu-O-X family are formed an intermediate covering layer 2 of an amorphous state of a similar composition to that of the wire material 1 and a covering layer 3 of a glass state of a similar composition to that of the wire material 1. Forming the wire material 1, and the layers 2 and 3 with a similar composition to each other, reaction between the wire material 1 and the layer 2 and the diffusion of the glass component of the layer 3 into the layer 2 and to the wire material 1 at the time of heat treatment are prevented. Coefficients of expansion are also made nearly equal to each other by the similarity of the composition and as a result joining parts are prevented from coming off at the time of both heat treatment and cooling. This makes it possible to form the covering layers of excellent electric and thermal insulation without causing the coming-off of the layers.
