Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To construct a network which is flexible by using the features of a loop type LAN and a branch type LAN by mutually connecting both LANs with the gate way function of a master station. CONSTITUTION:The loop type LAN(local area network) 5 to which a host computer 1 is connected in a specified node and the branch type LAN 10 where plural terminal equipments and the master station are mutually connected are provided in a titled system. To the loop type LAN 6 a terminal controller 7 is connected, which has a device server function 71 and the gate way function 72 which is a communication function and to which a large capacity disk device 8 and a high speed printing device 9 are connected and also the branch type LAN 10 is connected. Thus, the loop type LAN which points to the large scale EDP system and the branch type LAN which points to a small scale OA can be unified while effectively utilizing the characteristics of both LANs.
