Oxygen enriching device for internal combustion engine

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To achieve the enhancement in thermal efficiency by using a gas selective penetrable substance in which, by a pressure difference, oxygen enriched air is produced on the upstream side and nitrogen enriched air on the downstream side, and connecting the upstream side to an intake system and the downstream side to a compressor which is driven by an exhaust turbine. CONSTITUTION:An oxygen concentrating device 4 is provided with a nitrogen enriching membrane 22 being a gas selective penetrable substance, and, by a pressure difference, oxygen enriched air is produced on the upstream side 22u, and nitrogen enriched air on the downstream side 22l. And the upstream side 22u of the nitrogen enriching membrane 22 is communicated with the intake passage 10 of an internal combustion engine 2, and the downstream side 22l is communicated with the suction port of a supercharger 6 being a pressure difference generating means.
