Molten carbonate fuel cell
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To eliminate the dispersion of current density distribution and temperature distribution within a unit cell, to increase reaction efficiency, and to prevent gas leakage by installing fuel gas exhaust and supply manifolds and an oxidizing agent gas exhaust and supply manifolds connecting to a fuel gas guide passage and an oxidizing agent gas guide passage of a separator on facing two sides of a fuel cell stack. CONSTITUTION:A fuel cell stack 1 is obtained by stacking a plurality of unit cells 4 through separators 5 between end plates 3a and 3b. The separator 5 is made of a conductive thin plate 10, and gas guide passages are formed in both surface peripheries of the plate 10, and circular banks 11a, 11b are formed to prevent mixing of gases. Cut-off parts 12a, 12b on facing B, B' sides of the bank 11a, and cut-off parts 12c, 12d in the diagonal position on A, A' sides are formed. Similarly, cut-off parts 12e, 12f, and 12g, 12h are formed in the bank 11b. A pair of fuel gas P and oxidizing agent gas Q supply and exhaust manifolds 13a, 13b-16a, 16b connecting to cut-off parts 12a-12h are mounted on facing B, B' and A, A' sides through sealing members.
