Sustained release preparation for oral cavity
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the titled preparation capable of exhibiting medicinal effects for a long time, by setting a drug preserving layer on a tacky adhesive layer to be bonded to mucosa in oral cavity and further coating the drug preserving layer with a high polymer insoluble in the saliva as a drug release controlling layer. CONSTITUTION:A drug preserving layer is set on a tacky adhesive layer to be bonded to mucosa in oral cavity and further coated with a high polymer insoluble in the saliva as a drug release controlling layer to give a sustained release preparation for oral cavity. A copolymer of ethyl methacrylate and methacryloxyethyltrimethylammonium chloride (Eudragit RS), etc., are used as the high polymer. The preparation has the following various merits. Since the preparation releases a drug at a constant rate for a long time, complicated administration is not required. Since a constant drug concentration can be maintained for a long time, a dose can be reduced. A drug having short half-life and a drug to be readily metabolized in the liver can be applied. The preparation has high bioavailability, etc.
