Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enhance the accuracy of detection by providing a rack gear vertically movable with a post vertically moving on the outside of a main post and an encoder to change the turning amount of a pinion gear engaged with the rack gear into an electric signal. CONSTITUTION:A post 104 is provided in a concentrical tubular form on the periphery of a main post 105 in a vertically movable manner. A sensor 1 for the opening degree of bucket is fixed to the periphery of the post 105 and also to the upper end of the post 104. A pinion gear 109 engaged with a rack gear 108 vertically movable with the main post 105 is pivotally attached to the shaft of the encoder 2, and the turning amount of the gear 109 is converted into an electric signal and sent out. A bucket 101 is lowered into a well 200 and turned by the rotation of a kelly bar 112. The bucket 101 is lowered while slowly expanding the unit 102 to form a bottom-expanded pit 201. The occurring rate of trouble can thus be reduced.
