Electric contact material and its production
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain an electric contact material having low contact resistance and excellent in deposition resistance, by regulating the size of graphite grains in an alloy prepared by mixing respectively specified amounts of silver powder, silicides, and graphite powder to a specific value or below and also by distributing respective grains uniformly and independently. CONSTITUTION:The electric contact material is composed of an alloy containing, by weight, 97-50% silver powder, 3-50% borides of group IVa, Va, and VIa metals, and 10-0.1% graphite. The size of the graphite grains in the alloy is regulated to <=3mu and respective grains are dispersed uniformly and independently. The silicides are one or >=2 kinds selected from those of W, Mo, etc. The above silver powder, silicides, and graphite powder are mixed to undergo mechanical alloying, and the resulting perfect powder is compacted and then sintered in a reducing atmosphere. In this way, the electric contact material reduced in contact resistance, having deposition resistance and arc extinction, and excellent in practical utility can be obtained.
