Picture decoder

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To reduce decoding processing time by providing plural line memories having a capacity for one line of picture signal and plural decoding processing sections, dividing the code in the unit of line before the decoding processing thereby applying parallel decoding processing in the unit of lines. CONSTITUTION:A code corresponding to a 1st line and a code corresponding to 2nd line outputted from a BOL detection section 1 to code buffers 2, 3 are inputted respectively to decoding processing sections 4, 5. After they are decoded, the result is inputted to line memories 6, 7. When the decoding of both lines is finished, the content of the line memories 6, 7 is outputted to an picture memory 9 by the control of the control section 10. The similar operation is applied as 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th lines. Thus, the coding time is reduced.
