Multicolor thermal recording material
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To contrive higher hue properties, color separation properties and preservability of images, by emulsifying or dispersing capsules containing a specified color forming component therein and a coupler or a color developer in an organic solvent difficulty soluble in water, and applying the resultant emulsion or dispersion to both sides of a transparent base. CONSTITUTION:A multicolor thermal recording material comprises a transparent base provided with a transparent undercoat layer on each side thereof and provided further with at least one thermal color forming layer and at least one protective layer on each side thereof. Microcapsules containing a diazo compound or a basic dye precursor therein are dissolved, together with a coupler or a color developer, in an organic solvent difficulty soluble in water or insoluble in water, followed by emulsifying or dispersing, and the resultant emulsion or dispersion is applied to provide a color forming unit layer. For example, where a cyan color forming layer and a magenta color forming layer are provided respectively on both sides of the transparent base, when thermal recording of images is conducted on each side by using a heat pen or a thermal head, a cyan color and a magenta color are independently developed respectively on both side of the base with substantially the same applied energy. As a result, since the base is transparent, cyan, cyan + magenta (blue) and magenta colors can be developed (as seen from one side of the base) with favorable color separation.
