optical connector
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent the light from being emitted from the end face of an optical fiber and to improve the safety for optical connector handling by constituting a light shielding member of elastic arms, which are extended toward the aperture of a connector, and plate-shaped parts which are provided in front end parts of these arms and are inclined to the axis. CONSTITUTION:A light shielding jig 7 in a holder 5 which holds a ferrule 3 to which an optical fiber 2 is fitted consists of two elastic arms 10 extended toward the aperture and shielding plates 11 provided in front ends of these arms. When a reception-side optical connector 12 is not inserted yet, claw parts 16 of shielding plates are brought into contact with each other on the axis to intercept the light from the core and the exit light is not carelessly made incident on worker's eyes at the time of connection work. When the connector 12 is connected, shielding plates are moved outward and claw parts 16 are detained by step parts 15 to prevent connectors from being separated from each other. Thus, the safety for connector handling is improved.
