Automatic focusing device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To increase the probability of focusing to a subject desired to be photographed by selecting the algorithm to determine the amt. of defocusing for lens driving from the amt. of defocusing with plural regions of a photographing image plane. CONSTITUTION:The amt. of defocusing with the plural regions of the photographing image plane is calculated in a means 4 for calculating the amt. of defocusing. A means 5 for determining the amt. of defocusing determines one amt. of defocusing in accordance with the amt. of defocusing obtd. by the means 4 for calculating the amt. of defocusing. This means 5 for determining the amt. of defocusing is provided with the plural algorithms to determine the amt. of defocusing and the algorithm to determine the amt. of defocusing is selected by a selecting means 6 according to the photographing magnification betadetermined by a means 3 for calculating the photographing magnification. A lens driving means 7 drives the lens for focusing of a photographing lens 11 in accordance with the amt. of defocusing determined by the means 5 for determining the amt. of defocusing by using the algorithm to determine the amt. of defocusing selected by the selecting means 6. The propability of focusing to the subject desired to be photographed is thereby increased.
