Network diagnostic device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To allow a network component user itself to execute the investigation of a fault at the location by allowing a diagnostic processor to receive a diagnostic command sent by one of plural components, to execute the diagnosis based on a definition file and returning the result of diagnosis automatically. CONSTITUTION:The user of a TSS terminal equipment 74 entries a diagnostic command from the TSS terminal equipment 74 to check the cause not communicated with a host computer 1. Since a destination address 202 of a packet in a base band transmission line 2 is addressed to a diagnostic processor 32, the packet is fetched to itself. Then the collation number 206 of the host computer 1 being a device to be diagnosed in the packet searches the definition file by using the number as a key to obtain an address in the network of the device to be diagnosed (in this case, the host computer 1). The result of the diagnosis is transferred to the TSS terminal equipment 74 issusing the diagnosis command.
