Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To eliminate the trimming operation of a tire after vulcanization by a structure wherein openings are opened on a molding surface by interposing a large number of fine grooves both on the inner diametral side peripheral surface and on the outer diametral side peripheral surface of each of side rings. CONSTITUTION:Side rings 4 and 4 are respectively fitted to the inner surfaces of side plates 2a and 2b on both the right and left sides of a mold and fixed to the side plates with bolts 5 and 5. A large number of fine grooves 6,...6, which are produced by parallel knurling, are formed both on the inner diametral side peripheral surface and on the outer diametral side peripheral surface of the side ring 4. When a tire is vulcanizably molded with the mold as mentioned above, the air entrapped in the tire side part of the inner surface of the mold is smoothly discharged through the fine grooves 6,...6 to the rear surface of the mold and the efflux of green rubber through the grooves is impeded due to the viscosity of the rubber, resulting in developing no overflowing of the rubber. Accordingly, no rubber projection is formed on the tire side surface after vulcanization, resulting in eliminating the trimming operation and allowing to remarkably improve the productivity of the tire.
