Tea-making process and apparatus therefor

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enable ideal processing of tea leaves, by calculating a curve of target water-content vs. time in the rolling and drying process of tea leaves from various conditions, measuring water-content of tea leaves during the process and controlling the temperature and flow rate of hot air for drying according to the difference between the measured value and the target value. CONSTITUTION:Water-content and amount of tea leaves to be charged into a rolling and drying chamber are measured by a sensor S7. The target water- content of finished tea leaves at the end of the rolling and drying treatment and the period for rolling and drying treatment are inputted from an indication board 37. A curve of target water-content vs. time during the rolling and drying period is calculated by a microcomputer 30 based on the measured value and the inputted value. Water-content of tea leaves is measured during the rolling and drying treatment process. The temperature and flow rate of hot air for drying are controlled according to the difference of the measured water-content and the target value.
