Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To measure a car height with high accuracy regardless of the contamination of an optical system or temp. change, by connecting a voltage compensation circuit always keeping the light receiving intensity due to the photoreceptor of a compensating optical system constant to the light emitting elements of measuring and compensating optical systems. CONSTITUTION:The light emitting element LED 1 and photoreceptor Ph1 of a measuring optical system 5 and the light emitting element LED 2 and photoreceptor Ph2 of a compensating optical element 6 are mounted on the top wall 3a of an outer shell 3 and the reflecting plate R1 of the optical system 5 is mounted on the cylinder 2b of a shock absorber 2 and the reflecting plate R2 of the optical system 6 is mounted on a cylindrical body part 3b. The output voltage e2 from the element Ph2 is fed back to a voltage compensating circuit 7 and the supply voltage ec from the circuit 7 to the LED 2 is controlled so as to always keep the voltage e2 constant in the circuit 7 regardless of the contamination of the optical system 6 or temp. change and a supplied to the LED 1. Therefore, the optical system 5 receives the same contamination or temp. change of the optical system 6 but the effect thereof is erased almost perfectly by the control of the voltage ec and the output voltage from the element Ph1 always has sufficient accuracy.
