Light wavelength converting element with light quantity monitor
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To exactly detect the light quantity of a fundamental wave by attaching a photodetector consisting of a fundamental wave transmission use transparent photoelectric material and an electrode for coming into contact with said material, to a light incident end face. CONSTITUTION:An element 10 is an optical fiber formed by filling the inside of a hollow part of the center of a clad 12 with a core 11 consisting of a non- linear optical material. In such a state, the output of a semiconductor laser 16 is condensed by an objective lens 17, and a fundamental wave 15 is made incident into the element 10 through an element end face 10a. In the element 10, said wave is converted to the second higher harmonic, and emitted from an element end face 10b. In such a case, the fundamental wave 15 transmits through an electrode 20, a thin film amorphous silicon 21, and an electrode 22, before it is made incident on the end face 10a. Subsequently, a current I corresponding to the light quantity of the fundamental wave 15 is supplied to a control circuit 23 from the electrodes 20, 22, a control signal S from the circuit 23 is sent to a laser driving circuit 24, and the light quantity of the fundamental wave 15 becomes constant.
