Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To uniformize the stroke of a printing wire, to enhance printing quality and to cope with high speed printing, by forming platen rubber so as to have a smooth surface with respect to a printing head. CONSTITUTION:The flat surface of platen rubber 34 is formed to the place opposed to a printing head 10 of a metal platen 38 and the distance C between each of a large number of printing wires 40 and an ink ribbon 14 is kept constant. A large number of the printing wires 40 protruding from the printing head 10 toward printing paper 16 are driven corresponding to an electric signal and brought into contact with the ink ribbon 14 to impinge against the printing paper 16. At this time, since the platen rubber 34 and the metal platen 38 obstruct the retraction of the printing paper 16, the printing wires 40 pressing the ink ribbon 14 transfer ink to the surface of the printing paper 16 to stop and return to the interior of the printing head 10 by repulsive force and the force of a return spring. Since the printing wires do not continuously strike the same places of the platen rubber, excellent printing quality is provided and the high speed rocking of the printing head becomes possible.
