Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a portable radio device of watch size which has antenna structure adaptive to the radio device of watch size in terms of structure and strength without any trouble in use by using the band part of a wrist watch type portable radio device with a communication function as an antenna. CONSTITUTION:The wrist watch type portable radio device which is a rod antenna type consists of an antenna lead wire 1, a watch band 2, a receiver part 3, and the antenna input terminal 6 of the receiver. Here, the watch band 2 is formed of metal or nonmetal, and the antenna lead wire (solid copper wire) 1 which is coated with an insulator is laid in an S shape inside or outside the band part or in the band part. The overall length of the antenna lead wire is nearly equal to the half wavelength at the center frequency of a radio frequency band. Then both terminals of the antenna lead wire 1 are open. Consequently, this radio device has performance close to that of a half-wavelength dipole antenna.
