Gear shift control device for automatic transmission

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain always an optimum speed change ratio regardless of changes in carrying loads by changing speed change patterns according to the loads carried on a vehicle and at the same time setting a speed change pattern for starting the vehicle from the 2nd speed when the load is small. CONSTITUTION:A control device has a load sensor for detecting a load carried by a vehicle and a speed change pattern changing means for changing the speed change pattern according to the load detected by the load sensor. The speed change pattern changing means is constituted such that the speed change pattern is changed so that the vehicle is started from the 2nd speed when the load carried by the vehicle is not greater than a specified value. When the load is greater than the specified value, a large load speed change pattern is selected by means of the speed change pattern changing means. This make it possible to use a relatively high rpm range of an engine to obtain sufficient driving force when the load carried is large.
