Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of exhaust gas emission and a fall of output power, in the abnormal condition, by stopping the feed of the secondary air in idle running of an engine, and giving an alarm when an air-fuel ratio sensor outputs a ring signal for a preset period of time after the stop of the secondary air feed. CONSTITUTION:A fuel feeding device A controls air-fuel ratio of a mixing device for combustion, centering around the desired air-fuel ratio, according to a signal output from an air-fuel ratio sensor B. A secondary air feeding device C feeds the secondary air to an exhaust system, at the upper stream side of the air-fuel ratio sensor B while an engine D is cool. In this constitution, it is decided whether the engine D is in idle running or not by a means E, and the feed of the secondary air is stopped by a means F when the engine D is in idle running. On the other hand, the abnormality of the secondary air feeding device C is indicated as an alarm by a means G, and the means G is operated by a means H when the air-fuel ratio sensor B outputs a ring signal for a preset period of time after the stop of the secondary air feed.
