Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To detect differential pressure accurately as well as to perform control over an exhaust reflux value in a highly accurate manner, by calculating the exhaust reflux value on the basis of the load of an internal combustion engine and the differential pressure between both exhaust and suction passages at the specified crank angle position. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust passage 16 and a suction passage 18 of an engine body 10 both are connected to each other by an EGR passage 24 provided with an EGR control valve 26. And, working negative pressure out of a vacuum pump 38 is fed to a vacuum chamber 32 of the EGR control valve 26 via a switching valve 40 provided with each of negative pressure and atmosphere regulating solenoid valves 42 and 44. And, these solenoid valves 42 and 44 are controlled an engine control unit 46. In this case, each detection signal out of a throttle sensor 48 to detect accelerator opening, representing engine load, and a cooling water temperature sensor 50 and a differential pressure sensor 52 to detect differential pressure between the exhaust passage 16 and the suction passage 18 at the specified crank angle position is inputted into an engine control unit 46. And, according to the load and differential pressure, an exhaust reflux value is calculated.
