Facing method for optical connector part
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To mitigate any drop in the transfer efficiency of light in connectedness of an optical fiber, by making an optical connector part at an end of the long-size optical fiber into a state of being clamped moving a grindstone in describing a conical surface as making it rotate, and machining an end face of the said optical connector part. CONSTITUTION:A grindstone 14 rotates with its rotation shaft 16 as the center, and a sleeve 15 is turned with its axis B as the center. Since a rotation axis A of the grindstone 14 is tilted to the center axis B of the sleeve 15, the grindstone 14 oscillatingly moves in describing a conical surface centering on the axis B of the sleeve 15 as rotating itself. An end face of an optical connector part 12 is forcibly applied to the grindstone 14 whereby the end face of the optical connector part 12 is machined in a conical form. At this time of this machining, the optical connector part 12 is clamped with a proper device and since the connector part 12 is ground, as aforesaid, by rotation of the grindstone 14 in one direction, no waviness occurs in an optical fiber 11 and a machining surface, therefore in connectedness of this optical fiber 11, a drop in the transfer efficiency of light is mitigated.
