Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To perform the laser beam machining with the satisfactory quality by converting the whole of a first laser beam into a second laser beam with an almost uniform intensity distribution to condense it on a work and uniformizing the depth of heating regardless of a place. CONSTITUTION:A primary laser beam 2 with a rectangular cross section having the intensity distribution in a Gaussian distributional state is made incident on a first cylindrical lens 17 and said laser beam 2 is made incident on a second cylindrical lens 18 so that the length in the longitudinal direction at its cross section becomes almost equal to the length in the lateral direction. A first optical means 19 converts the whole of the primary laser beam 2 with the rectangular cross section into the first laser beam 20 with an almost square cross section. A second optical means 25 converts the whole of the first laser beam 20 into the second laser beam 23 with the almost uniform intensity distribution and the second laser beam 23 is condensed on the work 7.
