Production of electroconductive mica microparticle
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain light-transmitting electroconductive mica microparticles within a short time without requiring any pH control, by dispersing flaky mica microparticles in a heated and agitated hydrochloric acid-acidified mixture of tin tetrachloride, antimony trichloride and a hydroxyl group-containing lower fatty acid and calcining the powder obtained from the dispersion by filtration, water washing and drying. CONSTITUTION:Flaky mica microparticles are suspended in an agitated hydrochloric acid-acidified solution of tin tetrachloride, antimony trichloride and a hydroxyl group-containing lower fatty acid as a complexing agent, and the resulting suspension is heated to 60-100 deg.C. In this way, the hydrated metal hydroxide formed by the hydrolysis of the chloride in the solution is deposited on the surfaces of the mica microparticles. The powder obtained from the suspension by filtration, water washing and drying is calcined to obtain electroconductive mica microparticles having a film of a mixture of tin oxide and antimony oxide.
