Additional raw material interposing plunger
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent the falling of material in the cylindrical barrel part of a material interposing plunger consisting of the cylindrical barrel part, a bottom part, and a rod part, by mounting the rod in such a way that the axis of the rod and the cylindrical barrel part intersect each other, and by gradually reducing the thickness of the cylindrical barrel part from the inlet to the bottom. CONSTITUTION:A cup-shaped vessel consisting of the cylindrical barrel 1 having plural holes 4 and a bottom part 2, and the rod which is screwed in such a way that the axis of the rod an the cylindrical barrel part intersect each other, constitute the plunger which feeds raw materials, such as an alloy, a treating agent for refining, a graphite spheroidizing agent, and inoculating agent. The above-mentioned various additional raw materials contained in a space 8 in the cylindrical barrel part are pushed into a molten metal by the rod 3 without falling into the molten metal because the aperture 5 of the cylindrical barrel part 1 is positioned in a side direction, and the addition reaction is carried out. In such case, the thickness of the cylindrical barrel part may be varied, the area of a inlet 5 may be make smaller than the inner area of the bottom part 2, or the rod may be slantingly screwed to the axis of the cylindrical barrel part. The raw material to be added is homogeneously melted or reacted without falling in the molten metal.
