Method for plating liquid crystal polymer or entirely aromatic polyester

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To establish a plating method by immersing a molded product to be plated in an alkaline aqueous soln. having a prescribed concn. at a prescribed temp. for a prescribed time so as to enable surface roughening. CONSTITUTION:NaOH or KOH is dissolved in water to a prescribed concn. to prepare an alkaline aqueous soln. as an etching soln. used in a surface roughening stage for pretreating plastic before plating. The soln. is heated to a prescribed temp. and a molded product of a liq. crystal polymer of entirely aromatic polyester is immersed in the soln. for a prescribed time to carry out surface roughening. Since the surface is partially dissolved, the surface is made finely uneven and the plating of the liq. crystal polymer is enabled by an anchoring effect produced by the increased surface area and the finely uneven surface.
