Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To access an optical disk without waiting even in case of competing accesses to the same disk by storing these calls in an information storage section when received access calls from a plural number of terminals against the same optical disk. CONSTITUTION:When the access is called for an optical disk 23 from a terminal 11, a multiple optical disk controller 1 acts upon the information storage section 10 in response to a drive 24 to store the name of the optical disk and the used terminal 11 and then also store further the access demand from a terminal 12 in a similar manner. On completion of the access processing for the terminals 11 and 12 and of cancellation of all the access demands, the optical disk 23 of the drive 24 is demounted. In this way, the simultaneous access to an optical disk from plural users is feasible, reducing not only every user's waiting time but also a mounting frequency altogether, so that mechanical damages to the accessor for the multiple disk device and also to the disks are mitigated accordingly.
