Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a correct candidate word even for an input pattern of character string which partly includes isolated or contacting character patterns, by providing a word comparison means comparing the character string with a candidate word and a classification character dictionary. CONSTITUTION:The input character string pattern 1 is made into a character string combined with candidate characters through a character segment means 2, a character recognition means 3 and a character string generation means 4. A word retrieval means 5 retrieves a word dictionary 6 to recognize the character string. While referring to a character that may be entered separately and an isolated character dictionary 12 storing the character, the means 5 collates the character string with the word in the dictionary 6 to find the disagreement of the characters and the drift of character positions, and selects a candidate word. The word comparison means 9 compares the character string with the candidate word. If they are dissident, the means 9 specifies the part that is mistakenly segmented out of the pattern, decides the way how to divide or aggregate the character, and instructs the character segment means 2. Thus the word pattern including the isolated or contacting character patterns can be read out.
