Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To use abbreviated dialing even for public telephones by recording abbreviated numbers and telephone numbers on a card correspondingly to each other and reading the telephone number corresponding to an abbreviated number to automatically dial. CONSTITUTION:The handset of a telephone set 1 is hooked off and the card is inserted to an insertion hole 2a of a card reader 2. When the abbreviated number of the call destination is inputted with dial buttons 1a, a card reader 2 searches the abbreviated number from the card and reads corresponding telephone number and destination confirmation data and displays them on a display part 2b. When a call originating button 1b is depressed after a user confirms that the displayed destination is correct, pulses corresponding to the telephone number, namely, pulses which sould be transmitted with the normal dialing operation where the abbreviated number is not used are transmitted from the card reader 2 and are sent to a line through the telephone set 1 to call the destination.
