Cylinder head gasket

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain an ideal surface pressure distribution when a cylinder head is fastened, by composing the sealing part of a gasket into three parts of specific structures respectively, and setting the relation of the initial thicknesses of the parts to satisfy a specific relation. CONSTITUTION:As well as a head side shim 27 is furnished at the cylinder head side surface of a core plate 22, a block side shim 28 is furnished at the cylinder block side surface of the core plate 22, and moreover, a bore grommet 26 is furnished at the outer side of the shims 27 and 28 respectively. The initial thickness of a gasket at the peripheral portion (the first portion) D of a cylinder hole 25 is made tD. The initial thickness of a crescent part (the second portion) E including a block side surface plate 24, which extends from the peripheral portion of the cylinder hole 25 to the part a little outer side from the periphery of the lower part of an auxiliary combustion chamber material is made tE, and the thickness of the remaining portion (the third portion) F of the gasket except a bead 34 is made tF. The initial thicknesses tD, tE, and tF are set to satisfy the relation tD > tE > tF.
