Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To reduce the use amount of a correction tape, by reducing the feed amount of the correction tape as compared with a character width. CONSTITUTION:If the receiving data from a ETW control part 110 is correction indicating data, the master microprocessor 122 of the main controller 120 of a printer receives the data of the character to be erased transmitted suc ceedingly and operates a correction solenoid 87 to locate a correction tape 100 at an impact position and subsequently drives a printing hammer 38B to allow the same to impact a type and deletes an indicated character. When this correction operation was performed, the correction tape 10 is sent at the time of the operation of a correction solenoid 87. When the feed amount of the max. character width was set to l0, the feed amount of the correction tape 100 at this time is set to l1 1/2 the feed amount l0 or to l1 1/3 the feed amount l0. Therefore,the use amount of the correction tape is reduced to 1/2 or 1/3 as compared with such a case that he feed amount corresponding to a character width was set.
