Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the contrast on a panel by changing the width of timing electrodes, between which a gap of butting between data electrode groups is interposed, to form a light shielding part corresponding to the butting part between data electrode groups. CONSTITUTION:The interval between timing electrodes T51 and T52 is made narrower than the other intervals to shorten the width of a light shielding part. The electrode T52 is made wider than normal timing electrodes T50 and T53 to provide a light shielding part of the butting part between a U group and a D group. The electrode T51 is made narrower than normal electrodes T50 and T53, and the gap between electrodes T51 and T52 is shielded from light by a front end 102 of the U group. By such a method, a butting part 103 between the U group and the D group and a gap 104 between electrodes T51 and T52 are shielded from light.
