Tandem master cylinder
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To eliminate the anxiety that sealing members of pistons may probably be bitten by configurating a device in such a way that a piston of a tandem master cylinder is provided with a valve mechanism so as to allow the mechanism to be closed when a brake is applied, and an oil chamber which is communicated to a reservoir is disconnected from a pressurizing chamber. CONSTITUTION:A pair of sealing members 14 and 15 which is contacted slidably within a cylinder 2, is fitted onto a piston 3 spaced axially so as to form an oil chamber 16 which is communicated to a reservoir 23, between the above said members. And an oil chamber 22 which is communicated to the reservoir 23, is formed between a closing member 18, by which an open end of the cylinder 2 is closed, and a piston 4. And pistons 3 and 4 are provided with valve mechanisms 30 and 31 which are closed when a brake is applied to interrupt the connection between the oil chambers 16 and 22 communicating to the reservoir 23 and pressurizing chambers 7 and 9. Accordingly, this configuration eliminates the need for an opening provided inside the cylinder 2, in which the opening is suspected to bite probably the sealing members 14, 15, and 21 which are arranged onto the pistons 3 and 4.
