Capillary column base plate

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To make a capillary column compact and detachable and to attain enhancement in separation capacity by performing uniform temp. control, by forming the base plate of the capillary column by laminating a base plate provided with long minute grooves and a cover plate. CONSTITUTION:Meandering or spiral minute grooves 3 are provided to the upper surface of a base plate 1 so as form capillary column passages L between the base plate 1 and a cover plate 2 when both plates are laminated. Each minute groove 3 V-shaped or semicircular in cross section is used. As the material of the plates 1, 2, a silicon wafer, a metal plate and a glass plate etc. are used. When the plates 1, 2 are laminated, a low m.p. vitreous adhesive is used in the case of the silicon wafer and an electrostatic sealing method in the combination of silicon wafer/glass and a welding method by welding in the metal plate and a low m.p. vitreous adhesive in the glass plate.
