Optical shutter array

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To eliminate the breaking of wire completely and to facilitate wire bonding by boring grooves in a substrate, embedding electrodes in the grooves, and providing electrode pads which are exposed in the surface at specific parts when an electrooptic material which displays electrooptic effect is used for the substrate and an electrode is provided there to constitute an optical shutter array. CONSTITUTION:A desired number of grooves 19 are bored in the PLZT substrate 10 of composition 9/65/35, etc., in parallel, charged electrode parts 17 made of conductive resin are embedded therein, and electrode pads 3 of Au/Cr are formed at the specific positions above them while exposed in the surface. Consequently, wire bonding to the pads 3 is facilitated and the adhesion is improved; and driving electric power is reduced and crosstalk between adjacent picture elements is also reduced.
