Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent the end surface of a lens and a cap of an optical semiconductor element number from contamination due to flux by executing the optical positioning of an optical semiconductor element and an optical fiber, preparing fluxless solder between the optical semiconductor element member and a holder and soldering them under specific atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:The optical semiconductor element is moved in the X, Y and Z directions by respective stage adjusting controls 20-22 through a Z stage 18 interlocking with a jig and X and Y stages 19 and the optical semiconductor element 8 and the optical fiber 5 are adjusted on respective positions where their optical coupling is maximized. Inert gas is previously injected from an inert gas injection port 24 into a chamber 23, fluxless solder is prepared in the atmosphere and the optical semiconductor element member is fixed to the holder on the optical fiber side by soldering. Since soldering is executed in the inert gas atmosphere, soldering can be attained without using a flux.
