Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To attain the application of a bias magnetic field by using at least of a part of a clamp arm depressing the clamp of an photomagnetic disc for a generating source of the bias magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:A disc 11 loaded in the inside of a disc device is set to an upper part of a spindle 13 and fixed by a clamp 14. The clamp 14 is unlocked by the clamp arm 15 at unloading and the disc 11 is carried by a table 12. A pickup 16 is provided to the disc 11 at the opposite side of the clamp arm 15. In using the clamp arm 15 as a bias magnet, the magnetic flux induced in the clamp arm 15 by a coil 17 fitted to the clamp arm 15 is applied to the disc 11 under the clamp arm 15 to attain the photomagnetic recording and erasure. Thus, the application of the bias magnetic field is attained.
