Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To adjust an injection rate of fuel to an optimum value responding to the operating condition of an engine, by controlling a fuel pressure in a pressure accumulating chamber. CONSTITUTION:A fuel injection valve 8 is coupled to a fuel pressure accumulating pipe 11 common to cylinders through a fuel feed pipe 10. The fuel pressure accumulating pipe 11 is provided at its interior with a pressure accumulating chamber 12 with a specified volume, and fuel in the pressure accumulating chamber 12 is fed to a fuel injection valve 8 through a fuel feed pipe 10. A fuel pressure sensor is located in a fuel feed passage to control a fuel pressure in the pressure accumulating chamber depending upon an operating condition. This enables adjustment of an injection rate to an optimum value.
