Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To ensure the automatic lighting of head lamps for a car running through a tunnel equipped with illumination facilities at the daytime by raising a setting level for the intensity of illumination as compared with detected daylight below the setting level thereof, when daylight detected by the sensor thereof is over a predetermined level. CONSTITUTION:The output of an illumination sensor 1 for detecting the intensity of illumination outside of a car changes depending upon whether the sensor 1 is exposed to daytime or nighttime illumination, and when a car runs through a tunnel at the daytime or the nighttime. Also, an output from a daylight sensor 15 through an operation amplifier 16 changes according to whether the sensor 15 is exposed to daytime or nighttime illumination, and when a car runs through a tunnel at the daytime. In this case, a changeover device 17 for setting the intensity of illumination is operated so that a setting level for the intensity of illumination for a head lamp illumination comparative means 5 will be higher than detected illumination if this illumination is below the density of illumination as set, and a head lamp 8 is lit on according to the output of said device 5 via a timer circuit 10.
