Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To manufacture a rocker arm of which the sliding face has superior wear-resisting characteristics with respect to a cam by difining the sliding face with the cam by use of a composite layer where infra-metallic compound particulates are scattered in the matrix of aluminum alloy. CONSTITUTION:A rocker arm 1 has a rocker shaft insert hole therethrough in the middle and a sliding face 3 with a cam at one end of the arm 1. The sliding face 3 is defined with a composite layer 7 where particulates of infra- metallic Fe to Si compound 5 and Tic ceramics 6 are scattered in aluminum alloy 4 of matrix metal. The thickness of the composite layer 7 is set to within a range between 0.5 and 2mm. The rocker arm 1 having the sliding face 3 thereof superior in the wear-resisting characteristics with respect to the cam thereby can be manufactured efficiently and inexpensively.
