Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To determine the bend of a lead in accordance with the limits of allowance for the bend of the lead, by setting the length of one side of a detecting face of the main body of a sensor to be a prescribed dimension. CONSTITUTION:Fiber sensors 4 and 6 detecting the ends of leads are so constructed that the terminals of numbers fibers each having a diameter of several tens of microns are bound together in a rectangular shape by means of a frame 9. The dimension l1 of one side in the direction Y of a detecting face 8 formed by binding the terminals of these light-projecting and light- receiving fibers in this way is set to be a width dimension within the limits of allowance for the bend of a lead, while the dimension l2 of the other side in the direction X thereof is set to be a width dimension required for detecting the end of the lead. Since the length l1 one side is set to be the width dimension within the limits of allowance for the bend of the lead, it is possible to effect detection in accordance with the limits of allowance for the bend of the lead. On the other hand, the length l2 of the other side is set to be the dimension required for detecting the thickness of the end of the lead as described above, and therefore an extraordinary increase in sensitivity is held down, so that any element other than the lead may be detected.
