Two-cycle engine

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the best timing of exhaust depending on the state of engine operation by synchronizing the open timings of a discharge port and the opening of upper side wall of a cylinder of a two-cycle engine with engine speed, and providing a switching valve varying its switching timing depending on the engine state. CONSTITUTION:The exhaust port 8 of a two-cycle engine and the opening of the upper side wall of a cylinder are communicated with each other by a passage 11 with a switching valve 12 mounted thereon. The switching valve 12 makes link-motion with a crank shaft 5, and a device for changing rotational phase is provided in the link-motion mechanism. Timing for opening the switching valve 12 is made to synchronize with timing for a piston 4 to open an exhaust port 9 at low engine speed, and timing of opening is advanced with acceleration of engine speed in order to advance a practical timing of opening the exhaust port 9.
