Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enhance the discrimination accuracy of the abnormality of a sensor, by properly judging the dispersing degree of the value of a physical quantity corresponding signal. CONSTITUTION:The combustion pressure vibration of an engine is detected by a cylinder internal pressure sensor 1 and the predetermined knocking vibration from the output of the cylinder internal pressure sensor 1 is subsequently extracted by a band-pass filter 3. The physical quantity relating to combustion vibration energy is operated on the basis of the output of the band pass filter 3 by an operation means 11 (an integrator 13 and a rectifier circuit 12 etc.) at every one fuel cycle of the engine. Next, the statistical varying state of the physical quantity is detected by a microcomputer 16 and operation is performed according to the internal program of the computer 16 and the abnormality of the sensor 1 is discriminated on the basis of the output thereof. By this method, abnormality can be accurately discriminated regardless of the abnormality form of the cylinder internal pressure and the discrimination accuracy of abnormality can be enhanced.
