Superconducting magnet
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To stably energize a superconducting coil even if the coil uniformly held at cryogenic temperature is partly exposed by winding a soaking wire blank made of a member having good thermal conductivity on the outer periphery of the coil formed by cylindrically winding a superconducting wire blank. CONSTITUTION:Since a soaking wire blank 3 made of copper having preferable thermal conductivity is wound on the outer periphery of a superconducting coil 2 formed by winding a superconducting wire blank on a cylindrical bobbin 1, the temperature of the wire blank 3 of the part dipped in liquid helium is preferably transferred to the blank 3 of the part exposed from the helium to uniformly hold the temperature of the whole coil 3 disposed at the inner periphery of the blank 3 is uniformly held at the temperature near cryogenic temperature (4.2K) of liquid helium temperature. Thus, no quench occurs as described above even in the state that a superconducting magnet and hence the coil 2 is partly exposed from the helium, but the coil 2 can be stably energized.
