Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To give a requesting work station of the degree of freedom of selection by calculating a printing time from printing information and processing contents, reporting the expected time of the start of printing at the time of the reception of a printing request, and reporting the expected time of the end of the printing after the reception of printing data. CONSTITUTION:A print server 1 is connected to plural work stations 11 by a network 10 and controlled by a main control part 2. The main control part 2 when receiving a printing request from a work station 11 adds the total of the printing time in a schedule table 8 to the time of a timer 6 and transmits the expected time of the start of printing as an answer to the work station 11. The main control part 2 when receiving printing data from the work station 11 retrieves a calculation table 7 on the basis of printing information and processing contents to calculate individual printing time. The main control part 2 adds the time to the schedule table 8 and then sends the sum of the total of the printing time and the time of the timer 6 as the expected time of the end of printing to the transmission-origin work station. Thus, the requesting work station is given the degree of freedom of selection.
