Metal vapor laser oscillation tube
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To improve an energy efficiency, by supplying a pulse electric power from a high pulse voltage source to a power supplying terminal installed at the both ends of the insulating layer of the outer tube whose outer surface is coated with good conductive material. CONSTITUTION:When an electric pulse power is applied to a power supplying terminal 16 from a high pulse voltage source 7, it is impressed between electrodes 5 and 6 through the metal-coated part 19 of an outer tube 12. This induces the two-electrode pulse discharge to generate plasma in a discharge chamber 2. The discharged plasma collides with metal particles 8 in a discharge space 2 to heat up a ceramic inner tube 1 at extremely high temperature. The metal particles 8 evaporate and form a metal vapor as a laser medium so that a metal vapor laser oscillation is generated. In this manner, a pulse current flows in the direction of the arrow on the surface of a metal-coated part 19 of the outer tube 12. Said current flows into the discharge space though the electrodes 6 and 5 and forms a coaxial structure, so that the impedance of a discharge circuit is considerably decreased.
