Apparatus for separation of juice sac of citrus fruit

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enable the separation of juice sacs of a citrus fruit in a short time without using the heat-treatment or chemical treatment of the fruit, by freezing the fruit, disintegrating with impact, and selecting the separated juice sacs. CONSTITUTION:The freezing apparatus 1 is furnished with a storage tank 6 containing a liquid freezing medium and having a screw conveyor 24 to transport fruits and with an elevator conveyor 25 to transport the fruit from the delivery end of the conveyor 24 to the outlet port attached to the upper and outer part of the tank 6. The frozen fruit is impacted and disintegrated with the single-blow impacting apparatuses 2, 4, and the separated juice sacs are classified and separated from the disintegrated fruit by the classifying apparatuses 3, 5. Juice sacs are separated from a citrus fruit in a short time without using the heat-treatment or chemical treatment of the fruit. The process can be performed with little loss of nutrient without causing the problem of waste- water treatment with reduced number of workers.
