Production of alpha-olefin polymer
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To produce the title polymer having a high catalytic activity, stereoregularity, a high bulk density and a low content of fine powder, by (co)polymerizing an alpha-olefin in the presence of a specified catalyst system. CONSTITUTION:A solid catalyst component (A) containing a trivalent Ti compound is obtained by treating a solid product obtained by reducing a Ti compound of formula IV (wherein R<1> is R<3>, X is a halogen and 0<n<=4) with an organomagnesium compound in the presence of an SiO bond-containing organosilicon compound of any of formulas I-III (wherein R<3> is a 1-20C hydrocarbon group, R<4-8> are each R<3> or H, 0<m<=4, p is 1-1,000 and q is 2-1,000) and a silica gel having a pore volume for pore radii of 75-20,000Angstrom >=0.65ml/g with a mixture of an ether compound and TiCl4. An alpha-olefin is (co)polymerized in the presence of a catalyst comprising component A, an organoaluminum compound (B) (e.g., triethylaluminum) and an Si-OR<2> bond-containing SiR compound (C) (e.g., tetramethoxysilane).
