Production of thermoplastic elastomer composition
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compsn. having excellent low-temperature impact resistance, high-temperature rigidity and gloss, by melt-kneading a specified compsn. with a polyolefin and a crosslinking olefin rubber in the presence of an org. peroxide by heating and the blending a styrene rubber. CONSTITUTION:100pts. (by weight; the same applies hereinbelow) mixture of 10-90pts. PP(A) and 90-10pts. halogenated butyl rubber (B) having a halogen content of 0.5-4.0wt% is melt-kneaded with 10-120pts. olefin rubber (C) and 5-120pts. mineral oil softener (D) in the presence of a metal oxide and/or a metal chloride (E) at 160-250 deg.C for 1-10min to obtain a compsn. 100pts. compsn. is melt-kneaded with 100-600pts. polyolefin (F) and 50-500pts. crosslinking olefin rubber (G) in the presence of an org. peroxide (H) by heating to obtain a treated product. 100pts. product is blended with 5-150pts. styrene rubber (I).
