Document feed mechanism

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To select the optimum paper feeding condition to a document and to stabilize paper feeding operation by providing means for varying pressure between a paper feed roller and a separating portion and means for varying the paper feed speed. CONSTITUTION:A paper feed position detecting means 4 for a document 1 is provided at a mechanism portion within a designated range in the direction of arrows Y, Y'. A paper feed roller support frame 23 and a separation roller belt support frame 35 are fixed through springs 22, 34 to designated places of a pressure plate 72 adapted to move parallel in the direction of the arrows Y, Y' by drive of a pressure varying mechanism 71. Accordingly, the document is placed at the optimum position in a hopper mechanism 11, and simultaneously pressure between a paper feed roller 21 and a separation belt 32 and the rotating speed of the paper feed roller 21 are adjusted by a pressure control circuit and a paper feed speed control circuit. Thus, the optimum paper feed condition to the document to be handled can be set to enable stable paper feeding.
